He was once a stone-cold hippie bongo drum player and it was during his college days that he was cast as the titular lead in the independent film The Adventures of Sebastian Cole. Aside from acting, Grenier also loves music, he plays piano, guitar and drums. He was a former lead singer of the band 'Kid Friendly and drummer for the band The Honey Brothers.
